Miami With Willy Stackus
Words And Photos By Willy Stackus-
My Trip To Miami
Back in January, me, Spencer, Jake, and Kandal went down to Miami for a week. We drove down, and Jake drove the whole 18 hours, non-stop. I dont know how he did it but he did. Zach and Tron were living there for the summer, so we went down over winter break to visit them. It was so sick. Now that I am back, I wonder why everyone doesn't live there. The weather was beautiful, 75-80 and sunny everyday. We only had one cloudy day during the whole week, of course the only day i took photos was the day it was cloudy out because we were chilling inside before we went out and skated. We were looking outside and i figured i would take some photos. Everyday we woke up and went straight down to the pool and/or beach. It was crazy seeing some of the same people out on the pool everyday knowing that that was there life. They got to hang out and do that everyday. The hot tub was relaxing and the beach was sick too, it was awesome that we could go out every morning and loosen our muscles and relax before we skated. The ocean was so warm and clear, and of course it didn't hurt that the beach was a topless beach. Skating is so good down there too. We didn't see very many kids skating around, just us and some other Miami dudes. One day we passed this bench spot and saw Fred Gall skating which was sick. We passed MIA Skateshop a few times but never stopped in, it looks like a sick shop though. It was awesome being down there with Tron too, he's on his game. Everyday we had a new spot that Tron was hyped on and wanted to go to. Everyday he would sit on his computer and try to find spots on skatespotter.com that he saw in videos. It was awesome, he's such a funny dude to hang out with, and a sick filmer. The spots down there are so good too. No cracks, perfect cement benches, and all of the spots just look sick too. After our long days of skating, (from about 11-6), we would go get some food or just go chill at the condo. (We stayed at the Roney Palace on south beach.) After hanging out for a little bit we would go back out and skate from about 8-1. We had some long days of skating for sure. Its crazy at night too there because there are people out partying all night. Every night we could hear people out till like 4 in the morning. As the week died down, like the last 2 days, we all hung out a little more and relaxed instead of busting our asses skating all day. The last day, Jake and I decided to leave around 10, so that we could get home the next day at around 4. Jake drove the whole 18 hours back to Baltimore, non-stop, AGAIN. We got home around 4 or 5 and he dropped me off at my house. I'm definitely planning on going back to Miami again next year because it was so amazing. The winter's in Miami are better than the summers in Baltimore for sure. It's definitely a place worth visiting at some point in your life.
