4th place and a 140 beers later
Vengeance Clothing put on one of the best contests to date at the Reid Menzer Skatepark in York, PA. It was a good 20 some shops that came out including our good friends at Kinetic from Delaware and Chris Cole's new shop Reign. It was really good seeing friends that we don't get to see that often.
The contest took place on 4 different obstacles at the park in a jam session format to battle it out for $2000 in overall prize purse. It looked like organized chaos to me. You could pick 4 guys from your shop team to compete. They had it set up to where about 5 shops went on one obstacle at a time for about 20 mins or so. Your entire shop team could go or just the guys that can skate that obstacle the best. After those shops went, it was on to the next 5. The judges came up with a point sytem for the tricks that went down during that time.
After adding the points up at the end of the day, Vu came in 4th. I have no idea how this came about. Our team consisted of Ryan Boblits, Josh Schlappich, Dan Corrigan, and Willy Stackus. Ryan was hurt from the night before with an ankle injury, Josh got injured during the day with an ankle injury and was drinking a beer by 1230, Willy showed up hung over and pounded a tall can of Bobby Worrest's favorite sauce with me before he skated, and Dan seemed like the only one who could function at 100%.
I ended up getting some money together from people like Lowcard Nick, Willy Akers, Chad from Dank, and others pitching in for some more sauce. After seeing Josh and Willy drinking and just being at a rad place with a bunch of good people and friends, the right thing to do was to have more goodtimes with more beer. So after 140 beers, an injured team, good times, good friends, and an after contest dinner at Rob Burrito's (it's my friend's burrito shop in York, PA... www.roburritos.com)...I have nothing bad to say about the event. Thanks to Vengeance Clothing for throwing a great event and including us. See ya next year hopefully with even more beer!
Congrats to Skatology for the much deserved win!
